File->Options...
All settings you make in the following dialogs are stored to the registry.
Use this dialog to set some general options:
"Show splash screen on startup". After a while this can be annoying so you can switch it off. Default: On.
"Confirm deletion of history / cache". You can't undo this so perhaps you should leave it checked. Default: On.
"Show verbose status messages". Most of these are of little interest for the average user. Default: Off.
Startpage: Enter a valid web address here or press "Blank" or "Current" to set an empty page or the address of the currently displayed document. Default: "about: blank".
Use this dialog to configure settings for the "Auto Load" function. This is a unique feature that you will only find in CCBrowse. Some web sites incorporate so called META refresh tags in the HTML code to direct browsers to periodically reload the currently displayed document. If, however, HTML authors fail to implement this feature you can use the "Auto Load" function to achieve the same result. This comes in very handy if you have to cope with changing web contents like stock quotes, surveillance webcams, or weather information. Set the refresh period in the following dialog:
You begin and end the "Auto Load" function with View->Auto Load.
Use this dialog to change your settings for the cache. A cache can be very useful to speed things up but may eventually consume considerable amounts of memory. If your device comes with only 8 MB of RAM it is advisable to disable caching:
When you launch CCBrowse for the first time it will look for a directory called "Temporary Internet Files" or "Temp" to store cached files in. If you intend to change the settings in this dialog (for instance to use a Storage Card) the folder name you enter in this dialog must already exist on your device. See the Miscellaneous section for more information. Changing the cache settings will cause a cache flush.
Use ...Cache->Clear to flush the cache manually.
Default: Caching enabled, cache size 512 kB.
Use this dialog to change your settings for proxy servers (if any) and the timeout period. When CCBrowse tries to connect to the web, the timeout elapsing is equivalent to the user pressing the "Stop" button. If you are unsure about the proxy settings, ask your system administrator. Note: You must use a numeric proxy address here (see the screenshot for an example).
Default for Timeout: 20 seconds (if you are using a proxy that connects to the internet via an analog Diap Up connection, it may be necessary to increase this value).
Default for Proxy: No Proxy.
Use this dialog to change your settings for cookies. Cookies can be useful if you regularly visit the same pages on the web but are also considered a means of collecting user profiles and intimidating privacy. It's leaved to you if you enable cookies at all or let CCBrowse ask for confirmation of cookies. Note: Some sites send literally flurries of cookies to a client; to accept or reject every one of these can be very annoying.
Default: Cookies disabled.
Use ...Cookies->Clear to flush the cookie cache.
Note: A cookie can in principle be up to 4 kBytes in size. Allowing up to 100 cookies may therefore lead to memory consumption of up to a half Megabyte.
Use this dialog to edit your favorites (sometimes also called bookmarks):
Each favorite consists of a name and an associated target URL. The name you specify here is used a.) as a menu item in the "Fav"-Menu and b.) as a link in the favorites pane (see above). Currently, CCBrowse can hold up to 20 items.
Use ...Favorites->Clear to remove all favorites.
Use this dialog to specify settings for the history:
History will be maintained accross sessions if you enable this feature. This can be useful if you work offline and want to access previously loaded and cached documents. Usually only remote pages are entered into the history but you can also have CCBrowse add locally (file://) opened files.
Default: History is maintained across sessions, only remote pages are added, history holds up to 50 URL's.
Use ...History->Clear to clear the history.
Use View->Menu Bar to toggle the menu bar. This can give you valuable extra screen space.
Use View->Tool Bar to toggle the status bar. This can give you valuable extra screen space.
Use View->Load Images to toggle images on / off. Images are always rendered to the maximum quality, so you can speed things up if you switch them off.
